Allysa over at Keeping the Kingdom First has been doing a wonderful blog series on Coupon Myths Busted! For all of those who have been considering couponing but are really just not sure if it is worth their time and effort this series if for them! It is also a great read through for us already couponing to remind us of why we are doing what we do!
Here are the first three in the series
Myth #1
Myth #2
Myth #3
With Myth #3 being “Oh, coupons just aren’t worth the extra time for me, I am much too busy…” I woudl have to say with me bing a stay at home mom to 4 kids (6 and under), homeschooler, owner of a hair bow bowtique, elder's wife, potty training, having a 4000 sq ft Victorian home, and a hubby who travels a lot for work I really need to try and consolidate as much as possible to free up some of my time. Even though the task of all that coupon clipping and organizing seems huge it is so worth it in our family budget. As I might have mentioned before, with a family of 6 our monthly budget for groceries/cleaning supplies/toiletries/diapers/baby items/and such is only $280 a month. When you look at how much a growing family of 6 needs that is really quite incredible! I can only do that with our couponing and stockpiling. One way that I have found to cut time and teach our child a lesson in frugality is to have our 6 1/2 year old clip coupons for money. She gets a penny per coupon clipped (she usually clips about 100 coupons while watching tv during the younger kids naps). I also stressed to her the importance of expiration dates and bar codes and she has to pay me 5 cents for each coupon she cuts out wrong. She definitely pays attention to what she's doing instead of the tv! This is a great time saver for me as well as giver her another way to save more money for her own American Girl Doll.

Meijer 7/19 - 7/25 Deals
Meijer has some nice coupon match-ups this week. There weren' too many items that we personally could use like cleaning supplies and glueten filled snacks (with my gluten-free kids) but I'm sure others would find lots of deals for them. You can check out their full coupon match-ups list with Coupon Clippin' Mom. She is also a local gal so her add would be the Mansfield, Ohio Meijer ad as well.

Gymboree Red Ballon Sale
Gymboree's Semi Annual Red Balloon Sale started yesterday. According to the email they sent out:
accessories as low as $0.99
tops leggings and shorts as low as $4.99
so much more $7.99
I did stop into 2 different Gymboree stores while on vacation and was pretty disappointed at the small amount of sale items. We always use the Winter and Summer Red Balloon Sales to stock up for our next season....well not this Summer. I did of course find some great deals, but just a hand full at each store and mostly accessories. Now if you are shopping for a baby girl or size 8-12 girl both stores had tons. A few examples of what I found were:
Long Sleeved PJ's $4.99
Wild One Rain Boots $4.99
Holiday Friends (scottie dog) Leggings $1.99
Lots of Dots Leggings $3.99
Candy Shoppe Tights $0.99
Baby Boy Spring Khakis and Sweater Vests $4.99
Baby Boy Sweater $4.99 and matching socks $0.99
Cute as a Cupcake turtleneck $2.99
Daisy Days Shoes $4.99
Also....Family Fun Magazine (I found mine at Barnes and Noble) has a 20% off coupon in their June issue which can be used in combination with this sale. So, if you are finding a lot of items, ask to put them on hold at your local Gymboree and then run to a bookstore and pick up a Family Fun magazine for about $5.00 and get 20% off the sale prices. Not bad especially when this is a great magazine to read PLUS a coupon!

Old Navy $3.00 Graphic Tees
I got a flyer tonight while checking out at Old Navy that this Saturday May 30th, they will be having $3.00 graphic tees (Ladies and Men only). There is a limit of 5 per customer so you might want to bring a husband or friend with you to help you stock up! You might want to get there bright and early if it is anything like last Saturday's flip flop deal was...C-R-A-Z-Y!
Our cashier was also handing out coloring pages for the girls to design their own flip flops for a contest. On the bottom of each page was a coupon to tear off for 20% off one women's item and one kid's items. (not to be used on clearance items).
Old Navy is also doing their extra clearance savings of 50% off the clearance price. Ours was pretty picked over in the girl's section but I was able to get 4 tee shirts , 2 tank tops, and a dress for Maddelyn, and a pair of khakis and sandals for the baby for just over $30.00.
NEw Tulle's Day Sale!! 6/2/09
Tulle is once again haiving a one day only Tulle's Day Treasure Hunt Sale! Id you saw my post on the sale I got last month you'll know how WONDERFUL this really is! I ended up getting $707.00 worth of clothes for $50.88, close to 92% off!!! Their sale will include knit tops for $4.99, Tops for $5.99, Sweater's for $6.99, and knit pants, sweaters, and jackets for $8.00! Things got fast so it is definetly worth staying up or getting up early for, especially if you are wanting popular sizes.
If this is your first time ordering with Tulle, not that the sizes are more of a juniors sizing so it does run a bit smaller. I ordered one size up form my normal size and things fit fine. Also if you do end up with something that does not fit right, Tulle allows you to print out a return shipping label to ship it back to them for free.

Grocery Shopping Strategies: 10 Simple Rules
I found this wonderful cheat sheet on grocery shopping rules from Keeping the Kingdom First. It's short and sweet, but defineity worth trying to put at least a few of these into practice!
1: Do not shop while hungry. This is good common sense.
2: Shop with a list prepared at home (not in the car on the back of an old receipt) and stick to it!
3: Know your target price points. This will vary by region and season. For example, the price to beat on a gallon of milk in my area is currently $2.00, same for a loaf of bread.
4:Use Coupons: combine a coupon with a sale to save the most.
5:Beware of product placement strategies on shelves and endcaps. The best deals are usually high or low on shelves, and not on the endcaps.
6:Eliminate brand loyalty. Be willing to try a variety of brands depending on what is the best value.
7:Find a great deal? Stock up! Since sales only come around every 8-12 weeks, buy enough to last you through the next sale.
8:Get in, get out. Studies have shown the more time you spend inside a store, the more money you will spend. Don't dilly dally!
9:Avoid impulse buys (see number 2). Especially at the checkout stand, where prices are inflated.
10:If possible, leave the kids at home. Enough said.

Back from the Garage Sale!!
So sorry for the lack of posts this past week! We've been super busy getting ready for and then running our annual garage sale. I haven't really done much coupon/frugal blogging at all this week. Believe it or not I only picked up 1 pack of the huggies pull-ups at CVS at $8.99 (-$3.00 coupon), for $5.99 and that is just because we were almost out and couldn't wait on those. I will however be back tomorrow night with my list of next weeks deals as well as a coupon preview. So, now that we are almost past garage sale week I will be returning to the normal daily postings.

Mommy Day FREEBIES!
So what better way to celebrate your MOMMY Day as we say in our house than with some special freebies for Y-O-U the mom??? Head on over to Thrifty Mama for a great list of lots and lots of free things to help you celebrate Mother's Day for FREE! Now don't tell hubby though because he might think this list is his get-out-of-jail-free card and slack off on having the kids get you something for mother's day because of all the pampering you'll get off this list!
FREE Chocolate Bar!!!
Mars is giving away a coupon for a FREE chocolate bar to the first 250,000 people to register for one each Friday now through September. I believe you are allowed up to 4 candy bars per house hold and only one per email address per Friday. It begins at 9:00am each Friday. I was suprised that at 2:00pm I was still able to snag one! Definitely worth checking out for any chocolate fans out there, or for people like me....to give to the sweet hubby!

Old Navy Resetting Coupons Tonight!
Sorry for the lack of posts the past couple of days we've been busy getting ready for our annual garage sale. Let's just say that with the amount of children's items priced and stacked in my living room you could open your own second hand children's shop...literally! Another frugal mommy tip.....re-sell your children's big name used clothes. I'll someday soon do a post on the how too's, but you can dress your kids in big brands for free or almost free when you re-sell them! So on to coupon news......
Old Navy will be resetting their coupons tonight! You need to just keep checking Old Navy Weekly to see if the page has loaded yet. No one knows what time, but there are sure to be some high value coupons such as $60 off $100! Remember one coupon per person. You can swap out your saved coupon to try and find another but once you click print that is it for the week with that email address. Happy Hunting!

FREE 2 Piece Grilled Chicken meal from KFC!
So Oprah has shared with everyone that KFC is offering a coupon for a FREE 2 piece grilled chicken dinner including 2 pieces of chicken, 2 individual sides and a biscuit! Supposedly this is a one-day-print-off-only so be sure to print it out today. It is valid until 5.19, but excludes Mother's Day. Also remember that you can click the back button on your browser until the computer/printer image appears again to be able to print that second coupon! It's a bricks coupon, so only 2 allowed per computer.
TULLE'S DAY Sale!!!
Tulle is having their bi-annual sale this week (the 5th -7th I believe). A large majority of this sale is $7.00 and under with tons marked $3.99, including that cute dress in the picture above! I was able to snatch up 12 dresses/shirts with a MRSP of $707.00 for $50.88, close to 92% off!!! Shipping on all that was only $12.00! Act fast though becasue obviously with things being so cheap the sizes are flying off the selves! Oh...and the word is that things run small so order a size up. Eveything on there looks so cute and it's a great way to build up you Summer OR Winter wardrobe!

The coupon is a PDF file so it can be printed as many times as need and it expires 6/1/09 so that's plenty of time to snatch up some FREE Vitamin water!

Heads Up! 3 Coupon Inserts 5/3
Just letting everyone know that there will be 3 coupon inserts this weekend, 1 Smart Source, 1 Red Plum, and 1 Proctor and Gamble. Remember that if your area does not offer Red Plum of you just want a home delivery, you can check out this post. Here is a complete list of what will be available in each insert. This might be a good week to pick up an extra copy or two of your Sunday paper??? Another hint is that some Dollar Trees (unfortunately not mine) carry the Sunday paper for $1.00! That helps when building your stockpile and needing more coupons! Be sure to call ahead though to save a waisted trip in case they don't offer them.

Walmart Finds 5/1
I just got back form my bi-monthly Walmart and had a few updates to share. Of course price varies by location so it's frustrating that some of the deals other people have found don't work in my local walmart...or at least for a higher price than other bloggers have found the items for.
I did fine one better deal though:
Angel Soft 4 pack Toiler Paper $0.84 roll back (was $1.00)
-$0.50/1 coupon from 4/26 Smart Source Insert
Final: $0.34 for 4 rolls! That is a GREAT deal!
Also Dole Salad Mix was $0.98 roll back (was $1.68)
Wish I had a coupon but still cheap!

More Great FREEbies!
So I have stumbled on some new Freebies (Thanks Aunt Tabitha!) so I thought I would share!
Have a child that is potty training or soon to start? (Do we EVER leave that stage with 4 kids, 6 and under??) Then click here for a FREE Potty Training DVD form Pull-ups!
Baby One Step is offering a FREE Baby Blanket and mini stuffed animal! You can choose from a boy bear, girl pig, or neutral lamb. Click here!
Juicy Juice is offering a FREE Sippy Cup when you register on their website. *Allow 8-10 weeks for delivery.
All of these deals, as well as many more be found on Free Stuff 4 Free!! Keep an eye on their site for new freebies!!
Another hint is that I have set up another alternate email address (actually an old email address of mine) to use when signing up for free offers and coupons. This way it is a legitamate email address that you are entering onto the forms but your email will NOT get clogged up with all the spam that comes with these great deals. Remember a lot of the free samples are also free because they sell your email address to other companies who in turn send you lots of spam. I do once in a great while check that other email address to see if I messed some coupons or such. I usually do a mass delete when I go in to check. Just an idea to pass on.

Teaching Frugality to Kids
So my 4 year old Emma tells my husband yesterday that she wants to go to Disney again this Summer. He tried to explain to her that we went last year and after just buying a house we are not going to be able to go again this Summer. She them wants to know why and we explain that it is very expensive and costs a lot of money. My then frugal-learning-six-year-old Maddelyn pipes up and says "Yeah Emma, we used to have money....now all we have is coupons and a debit card!" So wise, now if we can just teach her to take out the debit card and do a cash only budget the Dave Ramsey way we'd be right on track! LOL! I even had her couponing the other day. She had $1.00 to spend if she could behave for me while we did our errands the other day. She new our last stop was Meijer and she could spend it there to get a candy if she behaved through the other stores. Well while at CVS (right before Meijer) I showed her that they had flavored Twizzlers for 75% off at $0.40. I told her that if she bought those now instead of something at Meijer like she wanted, that she could get the candy and STILL have money left over. She was so proud to come home and show her dad that she got a bigger pack of candy than she normally could have with her dollar and she also got money back! Wow, I'm so proud! She's learning a lot about using the resources God has given you to the very best of your ability!

CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Deals 4/26 - 5/2
Since the weather is ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL outside today...I am not going to individually post all the sale add deals for this week. I am kinda cheating by linking you to the blogs that I will be making my shopping lists from. So here you go!
Right Aid Deals from Coupon Insider
Walgreens Deals from Hip to Save
CVS Deals from Deal Seeking Mom
Giant Eagle from Cherry Picker
Publix from Southern Savers
Still looking for my local Kroger's and Aldi's. another tip is that I "google" the store's name plus the start date of the sale. This way I can check out not only the deals that everyone's found with coupon matches, but different bloggers have different scenarios on their blogs of how to get the best deals with sales that you can buy more than one type of product for that sale price. Most bloggers post their sale/coupon match ups on Friday or Saturday/ I generally do my shopping lists on Saturday evening after the kids go to bed and then my shopping after church on Sunday. Hubby takes the kids home for a nap and I head to the stores.
Have a great Saturday!!
